BIOGRAPHY
Sarah Dunmire holds a Master of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music (2020), Bachelor of Music Education (Instrumental and General) from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (2012), and earned her Post-Baccalaureate Choral Certification from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2014). Her Master's Project, which she presented at the Women Band Directors International Summer Conference in 2021, is entitled "Talk About Music in Band: Responding to Music with Musical Vocabulary at the Secondary Level."
Sarah is the Music Director at St. Francis High School in St. Francis, WI, where she teaches Concert Band, Concert Choir, Piano Lab, Modern Band, Music Through Film, and Digital Music Lab. She is also leads the extracurricular Drumline.
Prior to St. Francis, Mrs. Dunmire served as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Orchestra at Arrowhead High School (2017-2021) where she conducted the orchestra, two concert ensembles, two jazz ensembles, marching band, and pep bands. She also served as Director of Bands at Cudahy High School and Park View Elementary, leading a concert ensemble, jazz ensemble, and competitive marching band (2012-2017). She has led student travel to New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Orlando, and Northern Italy.
Mrs. Dunmire is a Master Adjudicator and clinician with Wisconsin School Music Association and has judged the Distinguished Young Women scholarship program as well as the Wisconsin Flute Festival.
Sarah is a professional flutist, pianist, and singer as well as a private studio teacher in all three areas. She has been rehearsal accompanist and pit pianist for the stage musicals Guys and Dolls, All Shook Up, Seussical, High School Musical, The Wizard of Oz, and The Wedding Singer along with numerous recitals, competitions, musical revues, and festivals. She has performed with Dream City Music and provides entertainment regularly for wedding ceremonies, church services, and memorials. She has performed with the Hartland Community Band, Greenfield Concert Band, After Hours Cover Band, and Dream City Music on piano, flute, and vocals and regularly performs for wedding ceremonies, church services, memorials, and any piano accompaniment needs.
Sarah is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Wisconsin School Music Association, Women Band Directors International, American and Wisconsin Choral Directors Associations, ColourFULL Music Intitiative, and Pi Kappa Lambda Collegiate Music Honors Society. She was nominated as one of Marquis Who's Who Among American Music Educators in 2023. Sarah resides in Greenfield with her fellow music educator and percussionist husband, Chris, and their tabby cat, Jasper.
